Warrior Expedition riders arrive at La Push

The time for meeting and greeting our Warrior Expeditions riders has arrived. The riders have bicycled from Washington D.C. to Washington State, at LaPush, following the Great American Rail Trail including the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Last week we greeted John Wirth and Mike Kohler, both Army veterans. One of the fun parts of the greeting came when Mike discovered a surprise that had been sent for us to hide and get him to discover. It was a little sticker stuck on the totem pole. Mike is one of the top diving instructors and his friend had fun following him.

Besides a few members from American Legion Post 106, we had the woman who had housed the guys at her and her husband’s house. The lady’s name was Alicia and she gave the guys a ride to Port Angeles for the night and then on to Seattle so that they could catch their flights home. We also had a carload of unexpected greeters who had followed the riders on the internet!

Welcome to La Push and congratulations on a successful adventure. Our next rider is to arrive on Monday, July 15.
