With the recent exciting discovery of the Quileute petroglyph several news reports have made reference to the Quileute village fire that took place in 1889 and the fact that most relics the tribe possessed at that time were lost in that blaze.

A few years ago Larry Burtness told me that the oldest building in Forks was a small wooden structure that sat in the side yard of the former Ninke house which sits in the middle of downtown. I thought to myself I need to take a picture of that little building and of course I didn’t. More……..

Building quickly cleared of parents and children attending Christmas program
Fire Wednesday night destroyed the Quillayute Grade School. The structure was burned to the ground and only a few things were saved.
On the way to Port Angeles the other day, I was listening to some random Canadian radio station. It was coming in hit or miss.
Nighttime in the Enchanted Valley is spectacular. The moon comes over the mountaintop and lights up the entire valley, so you can see clearly without a flashlight.
10. Forks doesn’t get that much rain. Found on an online blog on the subject of Forks, “As someone told me who ACTUALLY lives in Forks, WA, it doesn’t actually rain there very often.” Seriously?
