Forks Hospital Foundation has partnered with Forks Community Hospital’s Long Term Care to the funding to purchase a van that will provide transportation for Long Term Care residents. The 2018 Starcraft Allstar 22 ADA shuttle bus can transport 14 seated passengers or five wheelchairs. The van has a built in lift and the ability to transport a variety of wheelchair and seated passenger combinations. This van would allow Long Term Care residents to participate in events around town, go on home visits, attend appointments paratransit cannot drive to, participate in outings, and share in many other local festivities.
On Jan. 10, Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rainforest made the first donation of $10,000. This is just one way Soroptimist is able to give back to the community after the amazing support they received during The Festival of Trees. Soroptimist would like to challenge all local organizations, churches, and businesses to help raise the $75,000 needed to purchase this van for long term care. Private gifts and those made in memory of a loved one or LTC resident are encouraged as well. A gas gauge will be displayed in the Spoons Café and on Facebook, allowing you to watch the meter rise closer to full as The West End comes together once again to support a worthy cause.
Donations can be made on the Forks Hospital Foundation’s Facebook page, in the Forks Community Hospital Administration Building, or by calling Shannon Damron at 360-374-6271 ext. 522. If you have additional questions, Long Term Care will be speaking on Jan. 23 at the Chamber of Commerce Meeting. Contact the Hospital Foundation by email, fchfoundation@forkshospital.org or by phone at 360-374-6271 ext. 522.
