On her Facebook page Senator Patty Murray shared, “I was so proud to honor Cheri Tinker from Forks as one of the 2021 Golden Tennis Shoe Awardees. After participating in a “point in time” homeless count, Cheri learned there were 77 homeless veterans in Clallam County who had nowhere to turn for support—so she decided to help. Cheri called my office to get help with funding for an emergency veterans shelter, along with transitional housing units to start Sarge’s Place Homeless Veteran Program. Since Cheri got to work, she’s helped over 300 homeless veterans transition into stable housing.”
