A Look Back …This week in the Forks Forum

In the first WEBPA Santa Bucks drawing of the 1999 Holiday Season winners were Chris Hoke, Aleda Adams, and Howard Beglinger. Millennium Digital Media was offering “cable theft amnesty.” Santa was seeing clients at the Santa House located next to Sully’s; Sarah and John had shared their wish list with him (photo). More letters about the situation at the Forks animal shelter were published. In Moonlight Madness ads, Sully’s was planning 75¢ hamburgers! The school Mentorship Program had collected food for the Elks Club food baskets, Ashley and Brice were featured in a photo (photo).

Fifty years ago this week it was sad news that 21-year-old George Ronish had been killed in a logging accident in the Mora area. Sudden high winds had sent a tree top and limbs falling to the ground injuring several others and killing George. The school building class was accepting applications for the 1975-1976 build. Three Rivers residents were seeking signatures of support for a new fire district in their area. Frank Goos was the Sunset Lanes Bowler of the Week. The Vagabond was planning to serve a complete Thanksgiving Dinner for $4.25.

This week in 1952 the Variety store was planning the 5th annual visit from Santa Claus. He was to fly into the Forks Airport and then be driven to the store. The community had been shook by a terrific explosion of about 15-20 sticks of stolen dynamite. A case of dynamite had been stolen from the Mansfield farm. The remainder of the case was found the next day by Patsy Post in the school bus waiting shed! State Patrolman Rupp was seeking any information. The Bogachiel Garden Club was planning its annual Christmas sale of wreaths, swags, and table decorations.
