This week in 2000 it was reported that Forks cheerleaders, Sara Breithaupt, Sarah Sanders and Lacey Long had marched in a parade in London. The girls had a great time, but found Londoners a bit rude (photo). Forks third grader, Marin Gaydeski had won first place in the Smokey/Woodsy poster contest. Her poster and the 2nd and 3rd place posters had been sent on to State competition. The Forks Lions were holding a Crab Feed at the Vagabond, $10 a plate. The elevator at the Rainforest Arts Center was under construction on the North side of the building (photo).
Fifty years ago this week the Forum was reporting that the Forks Chamber was endorsing an upcoming school levy. City council was in a slump and council members were not showing up for the meetings. Several ordinances had to be held over for a vote due to the lack of Councilmembers. In Sunset Lane news, Stan Fouts was the bowler of the week. The Spartan basketball team was featured in a photo and full page ad (photo).
This week in 1953 the County Polio Chapter Fund had been depleted due to the agency assisting five polio cases with financial aid during 1952. FHS student were planning a fundraising campaign to help build the fund back up. Ground had been broken for the new Forks State Bank building at the corner of Forks Ave. and South B street (now the library). Construction was expected to be done by May.
