Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Michael Trebert Chapter donates books to the Forks Middle School
Forks Middle School students Brooklyn Rondeau, Riley Jackson and Kylee Roberts accepted eight books about trees donated to the school by the DAR American Elm Heritage Project on Friday, March 18, 2022. Michael Trebert Chapter registrar and project committee member, Ginny Wagner, provided the books to accompany lesson plans about trees and American history developed by the committee during the past year.
American elm sapling clones of “Herbie” the Liberty Tree, a tree that was alive during the American Revolution, will be planted by students at the Forks schools and by volunteers on April 29, 2022 during a dedication ceremony in Tillicum Park in Forks. The events will include a presentation by George Washington, portrayed by Vern Frykholm, Sequim, Wash., and the unveiling of an interpretive sign that features the American Revolution and American elm.
