The American Hero Quilters are planning to join the festivities of RainFest and the Piecemakers Quilt Club’s “The Supper Quilt” display.

The American Hero Quilts are given to service people wounded in action.

A display of the quilts will be shown at the Piecemakers’ main quilting exhibit located in the Forks High School Auxiliary Gym Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22, as well as at Peninsula College’s Forks Extension.

In addition, local veterans will read letters sent to American Quilt founder Sue Nebeker by veterans who have received quilts  and their families.

At the end of the festival, these quilts on display during RainFest will be given to wounded soldiers at Madigan Hospital at Fort Lewis, and to soliders now serving in Afghanistan.  

On April 21, at 7:30 p.m. the Readers Theater Plus is scheduled to present “The American Hero Quilts, The Story” at Peninsula College. This production tells the story of Nebeker’s founding of American Hero Quilts, for wounded soldiers at Madigan Hospital at Fort Lewis.  

Tickets for the reading program can be purchased at Chinook Pharmacy and at the door the night of the performance, and are $12 each or two for $20.  Refreshments will be served and quilters will be available to answer questions while viewing quilts. that will be shipped to Afghanistan and Madigan Hospital after the performance.
