…and take the winds of March with beauty …

The Romans are known to have planted narcissus in memory of loved ones or comrades fallen in battle. They likely brought daffodils to Britain from the Iberian Peninsula. Daffodils came to the United States along with the Pilgrims. Modern daffodils evolved during the 1800s when breeders began to select flowers for different aesthetic qualities.

This daffodil display, near the Forks Transit Center, was planted several years ago by members of the Bogachiel Garden Club…each year the daffodils continue to multiply. This past week they have weathered the rain and winds. The Bogachiel Garden Club meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Community Center on Maple Avenue at 1 p.m. New members and guests are welcome to attend. Photo Christi Baron
