Another 4th in the books

Summer is here …but why does it have to go from 65 degrees to 95 in one day? Hopefully, everyone is recovering from their sunburns.

Well, the 4th is a wrap, now on to Fun Days, Quileute Days, Joyce Days and later …Makah Days ….

It was fun to meet the Tourists of the Day at my office on Wednesday, July 3, in between selling derby tickets. The Tourist of the Day activity is one of my faves. It is just amazing to see how all the businesses are so giving! There must have been three tote bags full of hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, gift certificates, and even a glass float! all items donated …really just amazing.

It was especially nice that they were on their honeymoon. Daniel is a veteran and spent some time at Ft. Lewis and Holly is from the Bay area and Forks was on their list of places to go and …they are Twilight fans.

Thanks to Judge Hanify for driving Holly and Daniel through the parade.

Daniel sent the following message to Forks Chamber Director Lissy Andros …

Lissy, we’re still in Forks, but I wanted to express my sincere and deepest appreciation for selecting Holly and me as your tourist of the day! It was so much fun to be a part of the Forks, WA 4th of July celebration! Judge Hanify was a great driver and we had numerous laughs along the way! We are still in shock over the reception that Forks has given us. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are visiting the Forever Twilight in Forks Collection today, followed by some hiking in the Bogachiel and Hoh Rain Forest. Maybe we’ll catch Edward and Bella along the trail. Again, thank you so much. No one is going to believe this incredible story when we tell them all about it.

And …

Most activities went off without much problem, thanks to each group that does their stuff…Parade, Fun Run, Frog Jump, Sacks Tournament, and the Demo-Derby.

There was some parade line-up drama when the Forks Chamber entry had a dead battery at one minute to NOON! It was Forks City Councilman and Candidate for Pos. 2 Legislative District 24 Hickory Grant to the rescue! He was taking his shop truck through the parade and was able to get a jump to the battery and crisis averted!

Speaking of the Demo-Derby … the people who do the Derby had raised the question of changing the day to a Saturday …before any decision is made it will be discussed in depth regarding any pros and cons.
