Artistic Eclipse Recap and upcoming events for RCA

By Marni Whitehead

The Rainforest Council for the Arts (RCA) would like to thank everyone who bought a raffle ticket, participated in the Artistic Eclipse event, and donated to our cause; we have raised enough money to start looking for a decent digital piano for the Long Term Care residents. We would, however, still accept donations to upgrade the order to a better piano.

Artistic Eclipse was a success. We had over 20 performers at the open mic night, a small, but enthusiastic, turnout for the dance workshops, a fun time with band music that night, and a creative day of arts, crafts, and theater. We may make this a yearly event.

Upcoming events for the Rainforest Council for the Arts include the Maker’s Market on November 11, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and November 12 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the RAC. We are also planning a Christmas program with a sing-a-long, a peace walk, arts and crafts, and a play (performed by the newly revived Rainforest Players) on the night of Tuesday, December 19 open free to the public from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the play at 6:30 p.m.

In January we will host a month of creativity where people will pledge to be creative every day and then share their creations at an event in February. We are also planning on being part of a poetry open mic in January at the library and hope to make it a bi-monthly event.

Great things are in the works for the arts community here in Forks, WA.
