After the summer break Bogachiel Garden Club will resume its series of meetings on Sept. 18, 2024. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month through June, at the Forks Athletic and Aquatic Center, 91 Maple Ave., from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. This month’s program is “How to prevent or respond to possible emergencies in your garden.”
The Garden Club is open to all who are interested in gardening be it a small flower pot on a windowsill or the back 40 acres. We learn from each other as well as experienced speakers on garden topics.
The September meeting brings the potato project to an end with weighing of the potatoes and then donating them to our local food bank. This project started last spring with each member receiving a potato bag, potato start and directions on how to grow potatoes to benefit those in need.
Plans are also being made to place a Gold Star Highway Marker near the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument at Forks Transit Center. Research efforts are also underway to designate Forks as a Gold Star Family City.
“We are very excited about programs this year from bonsai, compost, soil, mushrooms, Thanksgiving floral arrangements, deer-resistant plants, and much more! Everyone is invited to join, new members are always welcome. If you are digging for more information, call 360-640-1401.”
