Both lanes to Neah Bay should be opened later this week

Crews have one lane open

WSDOT REPORT UPDATE: One lane of SR 112 at milepost 4, Rasmussen Creek, near the Makah Reservation  remains closed due to a slide that occurred Friday, Jan. 14. One-way, alternating traffic is making it through the area. Crews expect to fully reopen the roadway to traffic by the end of this week.

Bruch and Bruch, a contractor from Port Angeles, began emergency contract work Monday, Jan. 17 to reopen both lanes to SR 112 drivers. On Friday, Jan. 14, a slide occurred which covered SR 112 with 3,000 to 4,000 cubic yards of mud, rock and boulders. Crews estimate it will take 300 to 400 dump truck loads to remove all of the debris from the scene. Crews hope to fully reopen the roadway by the end of this week. Work is occurring during daylight hours only. One-way, alternating traffic will continue 24-hours a day until all lanes are opened. Drivers are urged to use caution through the area.
