Rayonier’s forestry team will conduct activities to reduce the risk of wildfires in our forests starting this month and continuing through December 2021 in and around West Jefferson and West Clallam counties.
If you are in the area, you may see fire or smoke during the prescribed burn portion of these activities.
All burning is done in cooperation with local fire officials and is weather-dependent. Smoke impacts are expected to be minimal.
Rayonier cares about protecting the communities where we live and work. During cooler and wetter weather, conditions are right for these efforts to reduce future wildfire risk. The forestry team focuses on the elimination of fuels such as debris and understory vegetation that could pose a risk.
If you are unsure whether a fire is a part of a controlled effort, please check with the local fire service or visit burnportal.dnr.wa.gov, which lists all permitted burns in Washington state.
