A 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by Bryon Haupt, age 52, of Port Angeles was northbound on US Highway 101 just before 7 p.m., Friday evening, when it struck a deer in the middle of the road at milepost 181, nine miles south of Forks.
Also in the car was passenger Pennie McCarty, 57, also of Port Angeles. McCarty was injured and transported to Forks Community Hospital. Haupt was not injured, both were wearing seat belts.
According to Washington State Patrol, no charges were filed. The vehicle was damaged and towed by West End Motors. No drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
