Individuals can register for the Walk-a-thon at the FAAC, 91 Maple Avenue in Forks at any time during the month. A$10 registration fee provides a t-shirt, water bottle, sponsor sheet and event instructions. Donations may be made payable to the Caring Place and returned to the FAAC or mailed to the Caring Place, P.O. Box 2111, Forks, WA 98331.
According to Deborah Dillon, spokesperson for the event, the Caring Place has provided services to pregnant women and their families since 1985. “We support and help moms and dads in their expected — and sometimes unexpected — roles as life-givers and parents,” Dillon said. “The Caring Place is a ministry to young families and provides free pregnancy tests, mobile unit ultrasounds, support groups, educational classes and resources for new parents, and help for basic needs such as diapers, car seats, and clothing,” she said.
Dillon said the mission of the Caring Place is to defend life through educating and supporting pregnant women, bringing them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and educating our community to adopt a godly view of sexuality and the sanctity of human life. “When we receive donations, we are able to continue to support those in Forks who need us. This fundraiser is very important to continue this important work,” she said.
“Donations, support and personal involvement with the Caring Place’s programs is greatly appreciated. We invite people to volunteer, serve on the board of directors and consider making monthly donations,” Dillon said. “This fundraiser can show how much ‘We Care’ about bringing God’s Spirit to work in the lives of those who come to the Caring Place for help,” she said.
