The Clallam County Genealogical Society is set to hold its annual meeting on Saturday, May 11, commencing at 9:30 am. Members will convene to vote for the 2024-2025 Board members and discuss changes to the by-laws. Following the brief meeting, attendees are in for a treat with a captivating presentation by Mike Karsen starting at 10 a.m. Mike Karsen will delve into “The Musical ‘Chicago’ and All That Genealogical Jazz,” a unique exploration of the real-life stories behind the Broadway musical and Hollywood movie “Chicago.” Karsen, known for his unconventional approach to solving genealogical mysteries, will piece together the lives of two women named Belva and Beulah, whose tales inspired the infamous show.
As a professional speaker and member of esteemed genealogical organizations, including the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Speakers Guild Illinois, Karsen brings a wealth of expertise to his presentations. With over 300 talks on genealogy topics and numerous publications to his name, Karsen’s presentations are always eagerly anticipated.
The event, open to all, will take place via Zoom or in person at the CCGS Research Center and Library located at 403 East 8th St., Port Angeles.
