The Clallam Bay-Sekiu Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards were presented at the February Chamber meeting. Each year, nominations are sought for Business, Member, and Town Beautification Awards. This year’s recipients were:
Business: The Clallam Bay Visitor Center for continuing to welcome and provide great information to tourists from all over the world, along with locals, too! The building is attractive and full of maps, local photos, natural and historical artifacts and information. Karin Ashton, Volunteer Coordinator, has done a great job keeping it open and running and accepted the award certificate on behalf of the Visitor Center.
Member: Jerome Kroll of Strait Construction and Repair, for consistently helping with events such as Fun Days; setting up booths, stages, etc. and the Sekiu Airport Fly-In; set up and cooking. Jerome also volunteers with the Clallam Bay Fire Dept., Ambulance, and Emergency Response Team. Thank you Jerome!
Town Beautification: This year’s award goes out to the “Clallam Bay/Sekiu Beach Cleaning Community.” Accepting the awards certificate on their behalf are Dan and Donna Barr, who are among a handful of anonymous community members who use their daily walks to scour and clean the Clallam Bay beach. The Barrs say they have picked up “over 5 tons of refuse on the Clallam Bay beach, including a compressor, a toilet, tires, and enough car parts to build a flivver (antique car).” Thank you all for keeping our beach looking great!
