Clallam County Office of Community Development report
Clallam County and a convened stakeholder group of citizen representatives and local parties have been working for nearly a year to develop a comprehensive stormwater management plan for Clallam County. The purpose of the plan is to address the undesirable effects of stormwater associated with development, including flooding, erosion, and water quality degradation. Stormwater management is particularly critical for Clallam County because trends in population growth and associated development suggest a continued increase in stormwater runoff, impacting water quality and quantity, habitat, water resources, and property. Clallam County and the Stormwater Work Group have a draft plan ready for public review and comment. While there have been ongoing meetings open to the public, this is a special opportunity to become introduced to the draft Clallam County Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan. Please come to a public meeting on Wednesday, March 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the DNR Olympic Region Office Conference Center, at 411 Tillicum Lane in Forks.
The draft Clallam County Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan will be posted on February 17 at http://www.clallam.net/realestate/html/stormwater_management.htm. Comments on this draft plan will be due March 17 to Carol Creasey, Clallam County Department of Community Development, at stormwater-comments@co.clallam.wa.us. Public meetings will also be held February 28 at the Guy Cole Convention Center in Carrie Blake Park (202 N. Blake Road, Sequim) and March 7 at the Clallam County Courthouse (223 East 4th Street, Port Angeles). Both meetings will run from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. You are welcome to attend these meetings.
