The Washington State Patrol is reporting a traffic collision on July 23, 2024, at 10:27 p.m. involving two vehicles on US Highway 101 at Wisen Creek Road, milepost 209-4. Nicole M. Wheeler, 41, from La Push, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound and had stopped at a construction light when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Zoe C. Lavoie, 66, of Port Angeles.

The collision caused both vehicles to come to rest in the roadway. Wheeler and her passenger, Theodore R. Colfax, 45, also from La Push, sustained injuries and were transported to Forks Hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Lavoie, who was also wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the incident. The Washington State Patrol identified the cause of the collision as Lavoie’s failure to stop and charged her with DUI. Both vehicles were totaled and removed from the scene by Peninsula Towing.
