SCREENING OF AWAKE AT PC FORKS OCT 5 TO CELEBRATE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY

Please join Magic of Cinema, House of Learning, Longhouse, and Peninsula College Forks on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Forks campus for a screening of “Awake: A Dream from Standing Rock.” This special screening will take place in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a holiday meant to celebrate and honor the Indigenous peoples of America.

Awake captures the story of Native-led defiance that forever changed the fight for clean water, the environment, and the future of the planet. The Water Protectors at Standing Rock captured world attention through their peaceful resistance. The film is a collaboration between Indigenous filmmakers, director Myron Dewey, executive producer Doug Good Feather, and environmental Oscar-nominated filmmakers Josh Fox and James Spione. It is a labor of love to support the movement of the Water Protectors.

Following the film will be a panel discussion and Q-&-A with local community members who participated in the peaceful resistance at Standing Rock.

This screening is free and open to the public. The Forks campus is at 481 S. Forks Ave.
