Forks beautification
To perk up the town for the big 4th of July weekend, Pura Carlson, her son Zach and local artist Vern Hestand (in the photo) hung historically relevant photo displays by Larry Burtness in the windows of the former office of Twilight Tours on Forks Avenue. The Forks Beautification Committee intends to duplicate the approach in every windowed and available empty storefront along the highway, all in an effort to pump up the appeal of Forks to passersby. Rates going up
Clallam County Public Utility District will host a presentation on proposed rate increases in Forks on Thursday, June 27. The meeting, which begins at 10 a.m., will be held at the Sekiu Community Center.
Feeding the children
This summer the Hoh Indian Tribe will offer a summer feeding program for all area children ages 2-18.
The meals, served Monday-Friday from July 8-Aug. 30, are free. They will be served at the Hoh Tribe Day Care facility at 2217 Lower Hoh Road in Forks. Breakfast is served from 9-10 a.m. and lunch is from noon-1 p.m.

Forks students pick up PC degrees
Peninsula College observed its 51st Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, June 15, and awarded more than 570 degrees and certificates to graduates.
Graduates from the Forks area include Randahl Kilmer, Carlyn Gaydeski, Walker Gimlin, Damian Hamlin, Sergei Holmquist, Michael Jacobson, Ryan Johansen, Sandra Kint, Christine Lee, Esther Palmer, Marianna Palmer, Gloria Robbins, Deana Rogers, Caitlyn Scannell, Sharolyn Schneider, Joycelle Sieg, Lucritia Stansbury, Brittany Olson, Ramona Venske, Melissa Willis and Megan Wonderly.
4th of July celebrations, revised
The June 20 edition of the Forks Forum included a schedule of this week’s 4th of July celebrations. A few last-minute changes have since been made.
The annual Forks 4th of July Elks breakfast at the Elks Lodge begins at 7 a.m., not 8 a.m. The Arts, Photo & Crafts Show at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will not be held on Sunday.
The Annual 4th of July Kiddie Parade details are now available. The staging will take place at the former Bank of America building on South Forks Avenue, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4.
Judging will take place at 11 a.m., followed by the parade at 11:45 a.m.

Friends cancel July meeting
The Friends of Forks Animals group will not hold a meeting in July. The Friends will resume their regular schedule on the first Wednesday of August.
