Volunteer to help at Clallam County’s 11th annual “Community Resource Connections” event. The resource fair has historically been called, “Project Homeless Connect.” We have updated the name of the event to make sure that it’s clear that anyone residing in our county is welcome to attend and receive services. It is coming up on Friday, March 6. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Port Angeles Vern Burton Center which is located at 308 E. 4th St., Port Angeles. Clallam County Transit offers free rides to and from Vern Burton Center on the day of the event from anywhere in the county!
Volunteers may work a half of a day or all day long. Morning shifts begin between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. (depending on the job.) Afternoon shifts begin at 11:45 a.m. There are additional volunteer rolls the day before for set-up. New volunteers must register by Monday, Feb. 10. New volunteers will attend a training/orientation session that will be taking place at the PA library in the Carver Room on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. to ensure that all volunteers feel prepared for their roles.
Homeless Connect is organized by Clallam County Homeless Outreach (CCHO), an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit. Our primary purpose is to connect local residents experiencing poverty, housing insecurity, homelessness or otherwise are experiencing barriers, with resources and services that can meet their immediate needs.
Services include free meals, clothing, haircuts, chiropractic care, dental care, medical care, assistance with driver’s license reinstatement, State identification cards, veterans services, chemical dependency and mental health referrals, legal advice, employment connections, pet food, programs for young people, assistance with housing. Additionally, it is a time to make connections with various social service agencies.
