Call it the follicle mile.

Dana Wentworth opened a new barbershop last month, right next to Cuts on the Run, which is right next to the Hair Affair.

“We’ll call it a new hair district,” Wentworth said.

Her shop was last home to the state liquor store, which closed after Washington privatized liquor sales in 2012.

A native of Forks, Wentworth returned to open Dana’s Barber Shop after spending the past five years as a cosmetologist in Tukwilla.

“It’s a lot different atmosphere in a barbershop,” she said. “A lot more laid back and I get to see a lot more people during the day.”

Wentworth said she was happy to be back in Forks and is stocking the shop with classic photos and items from the West End.

“It’s great to be home,” Wentworth said. “There’s a big younger crowd that likes crazier hair styles.”

Her barber chair, a vintage model manufactured by the Theo. A. Kochs Co. in Chicago, was retrieved from the home of her family’s long-time friend, Rocky Fletcher.
