Endocrinologist Dr. Fran Broyles will present a free lecture entitled “Type 2 Diabetes: Method to the Madness” from 6-7 p.m. tonight, Nov. 7, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 250 N. Blackberry Ave.

Broyles’ speech is sponsored by Swedish Hospital, Bogachiel Clinic & Forks Hospital.

Clay Holtzman with Swedish said Forks and Clallam County have higher rates of adult Type 2 diabetes than the rest of the state.

World Diabetes Day is Nov. 14.

To mark the day, blue circles will be placed around Forks, the international symbol for diabetes.

The Bogachiel Clinic and the Forks Community Hospital will host a community exercise fair Nov. 14 at the Forks Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, 280 S. Spartan Ave.

The event will include diabetes risk assessments, blood pressure checks and a number of  community exercise leaders will share samples of their low-impact aerobics, stretching, Zumba and walking classes.
