On Feb. 11, at about 5:30 p.m., Clallam County Deputies responded to the area of Freshwater Bay Rd. to the report of a dog that had fallen off of the bluff and was out of reach of his owners. Deputies arrived and discovered the dog was about 50 feet down from the top of the bluff and was on a small ledge with nowhere to go and no way to get back up the bluff wall.
Clallam County Search and Rescue was called to the scene to assist with retrieving the dog safely. Search and Rescue has the training and gear to repel down to the dog.
After several hours of being stranded on the cliffside Max, the dog was successfully and safely reunited with his family. Max, an Airedale Terrier was not injured during this incident and was very happy to see his family.
Max’s family expressed their appreciation and wanted to thank the members of the Clallam County Search and Rescue for getting Max home safely.
