Washington State Patrol is reporting yet another accident near the Elwha happening Thursday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. at MP 240, Hwy 101, 5 miles west of Port Angeles. The WSP report stated drugs or alcohol were involved.
Tarance J Gilham, age 43, of Port Angeles, driving a 2013 Ford F150 pickup was eastbound when his vehicle crossed the center line nearly striking multiple vehicles in the westbound lane.
A 2008 Honda Odyssey driven by 35-year-old Brandon C. Melville also of Port Angeles crossed to the eastbound lane to avoid the Gilham vehicle. Gilham then swerved back into the eastbound lane and struck the Odyssey.
Both vehicles came to rest on the eastbound shoulder.
The roadway alternated between fully and partially blocked for 5 hours.
Jeffrey J. Seelye, age 51, of Sequim, a passenger in the Gilham vehicle was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt.
Passengers in the Melville vehicle included Ashley Melville, age 30, and two children ages, 11 months and 3 years, all were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
WSP reports that Gilham was also wearing a seatbelt, and both drivers were injured and transported to Olympic Medical Center.
Both vehicles were towed by Alpine Tow to the WSP Bullpen.
The cause and charges are pending further investigation of the Gilham vehicle.
