A revised environmental impact statement, or EIS, has been released by the state Department of Natural Resources for the Olympic Experimental Forest Land Plan. A public meeting in which the DNR plans to answer questions and provide information about the forest plan will be in Forks Nov. 19.
The meeting will be at the DNR conference room, 411 Tillicum Lane, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The first draft of the agency’s environmental impact statement for the forest was published in 2010. Changes were made based on further analysis and public comments, a department new release this week said.
The EIS seeks to spell out the environmental impacts from two forest management proposals on 250,000 acres of state trust lands on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
The new EIS is available on the Internet at: http://1.usa.gov/16OUua5.
The public can submit comments on the plan through 5 p.m. Dec. 16.
Comments should be sent to Washington State Department of Natural Resources SEPA Center, 1111 Washington St. SE, MS: 47015, Olympia, WA 98504-7015; or by e-mail to SEPAcenter@dnr.wa.gov.
