Feeding 5000 has provided lunches for many people over the years, thanks to generous support from churches and individuals and a dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteer Sherry Schaaf shared, “In December we will start transitioning back to being a place where anyone can come, sit down, and enjoy the company and fellowship of others. We will be providing sit-down lunches only.”
Lunch will be served on Tuesdays beginning at 12 noon and serving will end at about 12:45 p.m., at the Community Center at 91 Maple Ave. If anyone is providing for shut-ins please speak with either Bob Schwartz, Eugene Fraker, or Sherry Schaaf and they will work to provide to-go lunches at about 12:45 p.m.
“Thank you for understanding. We hope that everyone will still come and enjoy the same delicious food prepared with as much care and expertise as possible,” Schaff said.
The to-go-only option was implemented during COVID and the cost of to-go containers has really put a strain on the Feeding 5000 budget. Donations to help this activity continue may also be dropped off during the weekly Free Lunch on Tuesdays at the Community Center.
