The Student of the Month project is sponsored by Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rain Forest (SIORF). Students of the Month are chosen by their teachers and honored with their parents at school for consistently displaying respect and responsibility for their behavior and academic achievement and always making good choices.
5th Grade: Sawyer Huggins
Sawyer’s favorites include the color green, cheeseburgers, snakes, and math. In his free time, Sawyer likes to play video games, play outside, and read. Sawyer likes school because he gets to see his friends here. This year Sawyer wants to get good grades and he is hoping to get an XBOX Series for Christmas. One of his teachers reported, “Sawyer is a highly intellectual student who consistently tries his best on daily assignments and is very supportive of others that need extra help. Sawyer is also full of creativity and wants to dig deeper into topics such as the Santa Maria and what happened to it after it was beached.” Another teacher said Sawyer is a great musician. He works hard and is a good team player. One more teacher commented, “Sawyer is an enthusiastic learner who seems to enjoy his math class. He is very willing to help other students. He is kind to his classmates and respectful to his teachers. Sawyer is a great example for his peers in academics, behavior, and character.” Sawyer wants to thank his family for always supporting him! Great job Sawyer!
6th Grade: Harper Beutler
Harper likes the color blue. Her favorite food is nachos, and her favorite animal is a wolf. Harper’s hobbies include art. Harper likes school because she gets to see her friends. This year Harper wants to get good grades. Harper’s teachers think Harper deserves to be Student of the Month for her remarkable work ethic and unwavering commitment to academic excellence. She consistently supports her classmates which creates a supportive classroom environment. One teacher said, “Harper is a top example of what a student should be. She focuses on the end goal, even on her rough days.” Another teacher commented, “Harper is a very conscientious student. She does her work well and is never afraid to volunteer information or ask questions.” Harper’s math teacher said, “Harper Beutler is a hard-working, kind and dedicated student and friend. She is always on top of her work and determined to do her very best. Harper is VERY helpful to her friends and peers. If someone is struggling, they go to Harper for support. She is the perfect representation of our school values; she is respectful, responsible and safe in all areas. Way to go Harper!” Harper’s band teacher reported that Harper is a great musician! Harper wants to thank her mom for always supporting her. Keep up the great work Harper!
7th Grade: Lillian Crippen
Lillian likes to go to school because she gets to see her friends here. Lillian has set the goal of earning Honor Roll all 4 quarters this year. Lillian’s favorites include the color green, tacos, and racoons. Lillian’s favorite subject is History this year. In her free time, Lillian likes to play sports and do art. Lillian was selected as student of the month because her teachers think, “Lillian is a hardworking student and a very creative thinker. She’s an awesome troubleshooter and regularly comes up with simple and effective solutions and ideas. She also has a fantastic sense of humor and makes me laugh every day.” Lillian’s teachers say, “Lillian is a hard worker and very respectful. She encourages her classmates to do their best.” One teacher reported, “Lillian is a respectful and responsible student. She prides herself on doing her best work. She asks questions and participates in all class discussions. I enjoy having her in my class.” One of our paraeducators who works with Lillian noted, “Lillian is an engaged and bright student. She always has a smile on her face.” Lillian would like to thank her mom for always supporting her. Way to go Lillian!
8th Grade: Skylar Ashue
Skylar likes the color red. His favorite food is pizza. His favorite animal is an elephant. Skylar likes math best this year. Skylar enjoys going on his iPad in his free time. Skylar reported that he likes school because school is fun. Skylar’s para. Jesse reported, “Skylar comes to school every day with a great attitude and ready to learn. Skylar is also responsible and respectful picking up garbage and other messes when he sees them, without being asked too. Skylar is eager to learn and loves to help.” Skylar’s math teacher said, “Skylar has really blossomed as a learner this year. He is excited to try the work to the best of his ability and participates in group responses and group activities. It is exciting to see a student so excited about learning!” Other staff noted, “Skylar straightens classrooms and closes doors as this is perhaps his way of keeping order.” And, “Skylar is a ball of energy and has made great strides with his speech.” Ms. Silva said, “It has been wonderful having the opportunity to work with Skylar. Skylar demonstrates a desire to learn and has a positive attitude towards school. He follows classroom rules, completes his work, and is respectful to others. When presented with an opportunity to help others, Skylar offers assistance. Skylar regularly closes classroom doors to ensure students can focus and learn.” Skylar would like to thank his para.
