Forks 4th of July Demo-Derby Results

The annual Forks Old Fashioned 4th of July Demolition Derby was an unusual one, to say the least. Just as it neared time to start the action, all of the fire trucks and EMTs needed to provide a safe event were called away to a fire.

The National Anthem was sung and then …everyone waited in the heat.

Derby organizer Ty Leppell tried valiantly to still make it happen and it was rescheduled for later in the evening at 6:30 p.m. A safety crew from a nearby community was on the way to cover the Derby when they got called back to their area for an emergency. The Derby was canceled.

On Thursday, July 6, 4th of July committee members met to try and figure out what to do about the Derby. Potential dates were discussed all the way into August. It was decided sooner was better and after securing the needed insurance to cover the event it was rescheduled for Saturday, July 8, and offered as free entry to the community.

The Fireworks were also canceled that day and they have been paid for so …watch for future plans for those.
