Forks Chamber of Commerce schedule for Feb. announced

Meeting held Wednesday at JT's Sweet Stuffs

The Forks Chamber of Commerce meets at noon on Wednesday at JT’s Sweet Stuff on N. Forks Ave.

Following is a list of speakers scheduled for Chamber meetings in February. They include:

Wed. Feb. 8: Harry Bell (Chair, Water and Shorelines Committee, Port Angeles Business Association) Land Use and Wild Olympics Campaign – Harry will provide historical context to USDA Forest Service and Olympic National Park planning activities, provide an overview of the current Wild Olympics Campaign and several alternate proposals, and present the current Port Angeles Business Association proposal.

Wed. Feb. 15: Rosemary Colandrea (Twilight enthusiast and Forks community member). Twilight in Forks – Rosemary will outline plans for Twilight-themed events to be held in Forks this year. She will share her vision of creating a permanent Twilight museum as movie sets and other memorabilia become available.

Wed. Feb. 22: Steve Romberg (Communications Manager, PENCOM) and Karl Hatton (Communications Supervisor, PENCOM). Steve and Karl will review what PENCOM does and how it operates. He will speak about the new initiative called “help 911 know your location” to emphasize the importance of letting the 911 operator know where you are calling from. PENCOM (Peninsula Communications) is the Communications Division of the Port Angeles Police Department and services the 911 needs for many communities including the west end of the Peninsula.

Wed. Feb. 29: Debbie Scannell (West End Coordinator, Peninsula College). Debbie will discuss the academic programs available through the Forks Branch of Peninsula College and give a picture of the student population it serves. She will be joined by students on various educational pathways who will share inspirational stories about the obstacles they have overcome along their way as they pursue an education.
