Walt Fuhrman, who attended schools in Forks in the 1930s and early 1940s, was on hand Monday morning, June 20 to photograph the demolition of the last section of the circa 1925 brick Forks High School building.
Workers from Primo Construction worked last week removing terra cotta pieces and other features of the facade of the building. The pieces are to be used to create a commemorative wall inside the entrance to the new Forks High School addition, which is now under construction.
Fuhrman said he recalled attending a school assembly following the bombing of Pearl Harbor when it was announced that the United States was at war. He pointed out the long, full-dimension wood boards used in the construction of the brick school building.
