Forks High School’s cheerleaders performed before the game in Vampires t-shirts, gifts for the special occasion from the folks at Dazzled by Twilight at the Saturday night, Aug. 28 Mariners’ Vampire Night game.

Olympic Peninsula baseball fans and Twilight-devotees alike gathered at Safeco Field on Aug. 27 to take part in the second-annual Olympic Peninsula Night, which was held in conjunction with Vampire Night, a nod to West End and “Twilight” fans.Both groups were treated to reduced ticket prices for a section in the 300-level upper deck, T-shirt giveaways, performances from Olympic Peninsula groups, and, of course, a brilliant pitching effort squandered by the Mariners’ anemic offense.

Before the Mariners took on the visiting Chicago White Sox, event-goers enjoyed free Olympic Peninsula and Twilight-themed T-shirts, and a performance by the Forks High School cheerleaders on the concourse near the groups’ seats.

Boy Scout Troop 1467 from Forks presented the colors, marching behind the pitcher’s mound with flags unfurled. When both groups were introduced, there was noticeable smattering of cheers from the 300-level seats. Chicago Manager Ozzie Guillen chatted with members from each group as they exited the field near the White Sox dugout.
