According to a court-filed probable cause statement of the Forks police, in February 2015, Officers Kempster and Garcia responded to an alarm at the Crippen residence in Forks. The officers found no one at home, but saw a stack of what appeared to be child porn.
A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of thousands of images of pre-pubescent female children in various states of undress. Computers found in the residence also contained tens of thousands of images of prepubescent females, including depictions of penetration and bondage with rope and handcuffs.
Crippen was released by the Court after his arrest on his promise to appear, despite a $25,000 bail request by the Prosecutor’s Office. Crippen, 59, will serve 36 months of supervision by the Department of Corrections following his release, and must register as a sex offender.
Crippen is also ordered to avoid all child-oriented settings or places, although he is allowed to reside in his family home. The State asked for the standard condition that he not be allowed within 880 feet from any school, including his residence which is within two blocks of the Forks Junior High School, said Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Michele Devlin.
Forks Police were prompt and aggressive once the child porn was spotted, said Prosecutor Mark Nichols. “Prosecution of crimes against children is a high priority with this office,” Nichols said.
