5th Grade: Declan Weekes

Declan was selected as student of the month because “he is always willing to put in the extra effort to redo assignments until he earns an A.” A little bit about Declan, his favorite colors are blue and green. Declan likes spaghetti, dogs, drawing, and playing soccer. His favorite subject is math. One teacher reported, “Just like on the court, in class, Declan is a team player.” Declan likes school because he gets to learn stuff that he has not got to learn yet. This year he wants to get all As and Bs. Declan sends a shout out to his teachers for supporting him. Keep working hard Declan!

6th Grade: Jackie Centeno

Jackie likes the colors purple, black, green and red. Her favorite foods are spaghetti and cereal. She likes wolves, the lynx, and coon cats. Her favorite subject is music. Her hobbies are running and listening to music. Other students reported, “Jackie is..kind, smart, beautiful, a good friend, great at arm wrestling, excellent at basketball, and she provides protection to those who need it.” Jackie likes school because she gets to hang out with friends. This year she wants to get better at math. She sounds a shout out to her friend Anjelica for supporting her. Finally, one teacher said, “I would like to add that she is a respectful and caring young lady, who cares about her tribal heritage and is growing up knowing where she comes from and where she wants to go.” As her coach in cross country this year I got to see Jackie grow and push herself through difficult things. Keep persevering at everything you do Jackie!

7th Grade: June Gaedtke

Multiple teachers reported that June was selected as student of the month because she is consistently and extremely respectful, responsible, and safe. June is kind to others and when finished with assignments, uses her time to help her friends. She is always contributing during lessons and group discussions. June is always striving to produce excellent work. Mrs. Johanson noted, “She is also an incredible artist and I frequently get to enjoy her art in any blank space on her assignments.” June likes the color green, teriyaki chicken, seal, and drawing. Her favorite subject is ELA. She likes school because she gets to socialize and do her work. This year, June wants to get good grades and create positive relationships with her teachers and peers. She thanks her family for always supporting her. We just can’t say enough good things about this girl. Just be you June, the world needs you!

8th Grade: Kendyl Woody

Kendyl Woody is another great young girl. She was selected by teachers because “Kendyl is such a wonderful student. She is careful and thoughtful, and an excellent planner! She pays attention to details and works outside of the box. She is an excellent team leader in science. It has been a pleasure to have her in my class this year!” Another teacher said they selected Kendyl because “Kendyl is a self-advocate for her learning. She always asks questions when she makes an error and fixes assignments to get better scores. She strives for straight A’s and is always on-task and ready for any new assignments. She is also an avid reader… which helps with her studies.” Kendyl likes the color red, french dips, cats, playing sports, and her favorite subject is ELA. Kendyl likes school because she gets to hang out with my friends. This year her goal is to get straight As. She sends a thank you to her brother, Kaden, for always supporting her. Kendyl has the amazing natural ability to lead. We can’t wait to see what she leads the world to do someday.
