Former Scoutmaster Curt White has shared some of his scouting memorabilia with the Forks Timber Museum in a new exhibit on the Museum’s second floor. “I tried to put as many items as I could from the Forks scouting troops (there have been two in recent years, one sponsored by the Elks Lodge and the other by the LDS Church),” White said.
“John Anderson has a lot of the Elks Lodge scout troop items at his shop while I have a lot of the books and badges,” White added.
The display includes a uniform from the ‘50s-’60s holding signal flags, also a hat from the 1920s made by Stetson who made the official hats for scouting.
Also included in the display are storybooks from the 1920s. A handbook with a Norman Rockwell painting is from 1927. “He did many original paintings for scouting,” White said. White also shared that the badges, pins, camping gear, and such are all local and cover over 100 years of scouting.
“I have more badges, uniforms and books covering that span of time but will wait until I have a display case and the museum has space for it. My father, my brother and I are all Eagle Scouts and I was a scoutmaster for the Forks Elks troop.”
John Anderson and others were also leaders for the 16+ Eagles here.
