Clallam County Health and Human Services Report – issued May 9, 2012
Free evening whooping cough vaccination clinics May 18
Clallam County Health and Human Services (CCHHS) Public Health Section will be holding whooping cough vaccination clinics on Friday, May 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in both Port Angeles and Forks. These special clinics will offer free vaccine to people age 19 years and up who do not have health insurance or whose health insurance does not cover vaccinations.
The clinics will be offered at two locations:
111 E. 3rd Street Port Angeles, WA (360) 417-2274
140 “C” Street, Forks, WA 374-3121
CCHHS received a limited supply of Tdap vaccine from WA State Department of Health in response to the whooping cough epidemic in Washington State. The Tdap vaccine is specifically for adults who are age 19 years and older and are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover vaccinations. Adults who have health insurance are being referred to their regular physician’s office or a retail pharmacy.
Dr. Tom Locke, Clallam County Health Officer, especially recommends vaccination for children, parents, grandparents, and caregivers. By making sure these groups are vaccinated, it will protect babies that are too young to be vaccinated.
