Washington State Patrol reports that on Friday, March 1, 2019, at just after 2 p.m. an accident occurred near milepost 202 Highway 101 and Beaver Ave. Involved in the accident was 40-year-old John L. McPherson, of Clallam Bay driving a 2012 Chevrolet Express Van and 91-year-old Eugene Spaulding of Forks driving a 1988 Toyota Camry Sedan.
McPherson was reported not injured but Spaulding was transported to Forks Community Hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. WSP reports that McPherson was using a seatbelt and Spaulding was using only a shoulder belt.
According to WSP, the McPherson vehicle was eastbound approaching Beaver Ave. with Spaulding’s vehicle westbound at SR 101 and Beaver Ave. McPherson attempted a left turn onto Beaver Ave. colliding with Spaulding. The Spaulding vehicle left the roadway to the right and the McPherson van rotated counterclockwise and came to rest in the westbound lane.
Cause of the accident is under investigation.
The van was removed by a private party and the Camry was towed by West End Motors.
