City of Forks Police Officer Michael Gentry continues his recovery in Seattle. The Seattle Police Department Hospital Response Team has been lending Gentry moral support as he prepared for his next surgery.

On Wednesday Gentry underwent his fourth surgery to align the broken bones in his leg and install all the "hardware" that will hold the bones together. Gentry stood for the first time last Saturday.

While Gentry has been out of commission his colleagues and friends have been busy organizing for when he returns home. They are seeking help with the building of a wheel chair ramp at his home, also anyone wishing to help the Gentry family financially can go to any First Federal Branch and make a donation in Gentry’s name or to the Forks Police Foundation website at:

Once home organizers plan on helping the family with meals.

Gentry broke his tibia just below the left kneecap and his left wrist while tackling Walter B. Martin-Perez in the parking lot of the Evergreen 76 gas station in Forks just before midnight Jan. 18.

Martin-Perez was charged last Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, the SUV, and resisting arrest. Get well cards for Gentry may be dropped off or mailed to Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St., Forks, WA 98331.
