Fish, beer and oh those striped Hickory Shirts will be on tap this week as the city celebrates its 2013 version of Hickory Shirt/Heritage Days.
Events kicked off yesterday, Wednesday, with the Hickory Shirt day and crowning of Dale Raben as the Pioneer Logger Award honoree.
Thursday sees the return of the Old Timers Round Table, where “old timers” from the West End gather to swap tales about the city’s logging legacy. The Round Table will bein JT’s Sweet Stuff, 80 N. Forks Ave., at 1 p.m. City Attorney/Planner Rod Fleck will moderate.
Friday, all Forks-ers are encouraged to don blue and gold to support the Spartans in their Homecoming football game against Tenino. The game begins at 7 p.m.
Saturday’s events will focus on smoked fish, homemade beer and tiny loggers.
The annual Fish and Brew will feature the town’s best home-smoked fish and home-brewed beer and root beer. The Fish and Brew will be at the 110 Business Park off La Push Road from 1-4 p.m. Entry is by donation.
Little logger contest will be Saturday, Oct. 4, at Forks Outfitters, 950 S. Forks Ave., at noon. There will be prizes for youths who put on their best young logger gear. The contest is sponsored by the Lions Club.
