Last week, Interwest Construction Inc. (ICI) began excavation under the new Canyon Creek bridge and started removal of the existing culvert. Prior to the removal of the culvert, biologists from Peninsula Environmental Group performed fish capture and removal from this section of the creek, and ICI set up the pumped stream diversion around the work area. this
This week, ICI will continue excavation of the new stream channel underneath the bridge, and will begin rebuilding the streambed by placing riprap and streambed sediment and cobble.
Impacts to Traffic
• The following work zones can be expected on Upper Hoh Road:
MP 4.5: Temporary Traffic Signals or Flaggers for ditch and shoulder clean up
MP 10: Temporary Traffic Signals or Flaggers for construction at the Canyon Creek Bridge
• Travelers should expect delays at each of these locations, up to a
total of 30 minutes per passage through the project corridor Mon.
through Friday, 8 a.m.—6 p.m.
• Olympic National Park and businesses along Upper Hoh Road will remain accessible at all times during construction.
