Clallam County Veterans are being invited to listen to the Puget Sound Honor Flight Presentation on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Northwest Veterans Resource Center in Port Angeles at 6 p.m. Puget Sound Honor Flight Coordinators, Renee & Jim Peavey will be traveling to Port Angeles to present information for Clallam County Veterans to learn and apply for the opportunity.
The Puget Sound Honor Flight mission is to celebrate Western Washington veterans with a FREE trip to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at the memorials built in their honor.
Steve Talkington, a retired USN Chief (& previous Puget Sound Honor Flight board member) will also be presenting. Chief Talkington having served two tours in Vietnam” as medical corpsman, and recently completed his much-deserved Honor Flight. Puget Sound Honor Flight is a hub of the Honor Flight Network, a national nonprofit organization comprised of independent hubs working together to achieve the Honor Flight mission.
In furtherance of this common goal, we have the enormous privilege of showing our nation’s veterans the appreciation and honor they deserve. Honored veterans always travel free of charge. Honor Flight Network currently honors those who served during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and veterans of any service era who are critically ill. Puget Sound Honor Flight is a 501©(3), all-volunteer chapter of the Honor Flight Network.
Honor Flights rely on grants and generous donations from individuals, organizations, and corporations to fund the flights for honored Veterans. No federal funds are allocated to this program.
VFW # 6787 of Carlsborg and Michael Trebert DAR Chapter are co-sponsors of this Aug. 30 visit.
Refreshments will be served after the hour presentation at the NW Veterans Resource Center located at 216 S. Francis Street in Port Angeles.
