Horseshoe Tournament Results

The Forks Old-Fashioned 4th of July Horseshoes Tournament was held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Tillicum Park in Forks.

This year there were 46 players throwing shoes under beautiful blue skies with a refreshing breeze coming in from the ocean.

The winner’s bracket had a mix of fast-paced victories and some longer nail-biting matches. Grandpa Floyd McCoy and grandson Dalton Kilmer piled up wins and emerged undefeated awaiting the final match.

In the loser’s bracket, the team of stepbrothers Troy Pearce and Wade McCoy had to fend off brothers Leon Daman and Kenny Daman to win the loser’s bracket and set up the championship match with Floyd and Dalton.

In the title game, Floyd and Dalton slowly built a lead due to topped ringers by both teams until a double ringer by Dalton gave them the momentum to win the championship.

Floyd and Dalton claimed their second title as a team and the top prize of $200.

Many thanks to the City of Forks maintenance staff for prepping the pits as well as those who helped set out and pick up the equipment.
