The Forks Old-Fashioned Horseshoes Tournament was held 9 a.m. Saturday July 2, at Tillicum Park in Forks. There were 35 teams this year throwing shoes on a cool, dry, overcast day.
Many new players gave it a try and as usual there were a lot of familiar faces in the draw.
The winners bracket had a lot of highly competitive matches which saw the defending champions Troy Pearce and Wade McCoy emerge unscathed awaiting the final match.

In the losers bracket there were many good teams fighting some tough battles trying to earn a shot at Pearce and McCoy.
In the end it was the team of Pete Rabey and Joel Schaben who edged out Mark Raben and Brian Richards to win the losers bracket and give themselves a shot in the final match.
In the championship match Rabey and Schaben rallied from a deep deficit to win 21-16 giving Pearce and McCoy their first loss, forcing the “if necessary” re-match.
In the re-match Pearce and McCoy cruised to a 21-5 victory to repeat as champions.
Pearce and McCoy took the top prize of $180 and celebrated their third championship by joining family members in a wicked game of cross-country croquette.
Many thanks go out to everyone who assisted in running the tournament as well as Forks Outfitters for donating paint and rulers.
