On Saturday, Oct. 7, there will be a candidate forum and reception co-sponsored by the North Olympic Library System at the Forks Branch Library, 171 South Forks Ave. Starting at 2 p.m. there will be a debate featuring candidates for Mayor of Forks Ken Ayers and Tim Fletcher, followed by a panel with candidates for Port Commissioner, District 1: Colleen McAleer and Michael Cobb. The final panel will consist of seven candidates for three Fire District 2 Commissioner positions: Position 1 candidates Jodi Riker and Dustin Kraft, Position 2 candidates Britni Duncan and Chet Hunt, and Position 5 candidates Neris Biciunas, Anthony (Tony) Romberg and John Witherspoon. All seven Fire District candidates will participate in the same single panel. All candidates appearing on the ballot have been invited to attend this forum and introduce themselves at the conclusion of the final panel.
All candidates named above have confirmed their participation in the forums described above. Other candidates, such as those running in uncontested races, have been encouraged to attend these events but have not been asked to RSVP, so their attendance at the reception cannot be confirmed.
Audience questions are the most important part of any League of Women Voters forum. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and bring their questions for the candidates.
Ballots will be mailed on Oct. 18 and must be postmarked no later than election day, Tuesday, November 7.
