A classroom fire safety lesson included a session outside in the snow for Forks Elementary School students on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 17. First-graders, and pre-first-graders from Karen. Wittenborn’s and Donna Moon’s classes were taught what to do at home if a fire should break out. As a reward for being attentive the students were taken to a school parking lot for a demonstration of firefighting gear. Serving as fire safety trainers for the day were Forks High School seniors Joe Heuring and Sean Armor, plus Chris Paul who filled in for Sparky the Dalmatian. Overseeing the student teachers, who used the lesson as part of their senior project, was Clallam County District No. 1 firefighter Justice Barnes.
