Maury and Betty Hull Scholarship Assists Peninsula Students

20 students selected and $74,307 awarded in 2024

Vancouver, WA—A scholarship fund established to honor the lives of Peninsula Telecom owners Maury and Betty Hull awarded 20 students with scholarships totaling more than $74,300 this year.

The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington manages the application process, which is scheduled to open for the 2025-26 academic year on December 5, 2024 at www.cfsww.org/scholarships. Deanna Green, Senior Scholarship Manager and Development Associate, said the students supported this year have strong representation from both school districts, including six new graduates from the 2024 class.

The Maury and Betty Hull Scholarship was established at the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington in 2018 with $1.8 million from the late couple’s estate. The fund exists to support graduates from the Quillayute Valley and Cape Flattery School Districts pursuing post-secondary education, including vocational certificates, graduate and post-graduate programs. To date, the fund has provided 118 awards, totaling more than $515,000.

All graduates from the two school districts are encouraged to apply. Scholarship applications are accepted for the following academic year starting December 5, 2024. The application window is open until April 30, 2025. Awards are eligible for renewal for the duration of a student’s degree or certificate program if they meet course requirements and reapply each year. Awards are determined by a selection committee consisting of Community Foundation staff, community members and a member of the Hull family.
