“Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store”

It was a fun morning at the annual Breakfast with Santa this past Saturday. I have volunteered long enough that each year families age out … and you don’t see them for a while …and then …the kids grow up and have kids and the cycle starts over.

It was nice to see the high school kids helping out again this year joined by a lot of senior citizens who could be staying home …but there they were, cooking, serving coffee, and clearing tables.

Last year was the first year a Free afternoon movie was added to the mix of events on the same day as the breakfast. The minute the breakfast was over, it was all hands on deck … chairs up, tables cleaned and put away, and then the set up for the movie. The Forks Chamber was one of the sponsors of the movie and Chamber director Lissy asked if my Golden Retriever, Rollo, might like to portray the Grinch’s dog, Max.

He said yes, although he refused to wear the little horn prop that Max is known to wear. I don’t know about the kids and parents but my dog had the best time!

He got lots of pets, got in a few face licks, and, sorry, vandalized a couple of cupcakes. And he loved the guy in the big green costume!

And as the Grinch once said, “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store,” my dog would agree.
