Missing Horse

Her name is Chicaros Lil Peppy, a registered quarter horse who is 6 years old, but they call her Chicky and she hasn’t had an easy life. Originally from a herd in Nevada where her owner had died and for eighteen months Chicky and her horse family were forced to fend for themselves.

Chicky was eventually rounded up and ended up on a truck bound for slaughter. Then something good happened and she was rescued and ended up in Chehalis in foster care.

On Dec. 14 Forks resident Tracy Kelly-Rios brought Chicky home and things were really looking up for this horse. But, on Dec. 22 Chicky escaped her pasture located in the Elk Creek area, and has been missing ever since.

There was a credible sighting near the Calawah Bridge and it seems possible that she may have crossed the river and may now be somewhere near the "A" Road.

Volunteers gathered on Saturday Dec. 28 and searched multiple areas but found no sign of Chicky.

The brown horse was wearing a purple halter and it is branded on the left hip with a circle with a bar in the middle. If you have any information, call Kelly-Rios at 640-4641 or Jennifer Klahn at 640-9142.

Any help looking for the Chicky would be greatly appreciated by Kelly-Rios, who is hoping for a late Christmas miracle.
